Meet Our Board Of Directors

Movement towards Education and Youth Empowerment-Sierra Leone Board of Directors – is the governing body responsible for overseeing the organization’s operational activities, and the development of policies. The Board of Directors meet periodically to discuss and vote on the affairs of the organization. At a minimum, an annual meeting must occur with all Board of Directors present. Additional meetings are likely to take place throughout the year so they can discuss and make other necessary decisions.

Augustine Paul Tucker, Board Chairperson

Augustine Paul Tucker has over 15 years of experience in the community development initiatives sector, with a specific focus on WASH and Health. Currently, Augustine is a Program Manager for the Movement towards Peace and Development Agency-Sierra Leone (MoPADA-SL), where he focuses on management, initiating, designing, and directing the implementation of WASH and Health programs for his organization operations in the country. Augustine holds a Master of Science Degree in Extension and Rural Sociology, and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the Njala University where he focused on community-based development initiatives, mentoring, coaching of community-led initiatives, and identifying WASH and health gaps in schools, health care facilities and communities.

He has worked as a teacher in a renowned Secondary school and served as a peace monitor, conflict mediator and resolution under Conciliation Resources a then UK-based INGO. Augustine Paul Tucker is passionate about his commitment to social justice for rural communities and spent relentless efforts in ensuring everyone everywhere in rural communities have access and sustainably manage WASH and health in Sierra Leone. Augustine hoped that by the end of 2030 the world would have been able to reduce WASH and health related problems. He wants to witness were community members can stand up, speak out and demand for their God given right from the duty bearers so that rural communities can experience a complete equal and a just society. Augustine plans to continue her work in WASH and health considering gender equality as a crosscutting issue for women’s rights and equal opportunities.

Augustine Macarthy, Executive Director & Board Secretary

Augustine Macarthy is an International development professional. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology with a major in human development and societal transformation from the Njala University, Sierra Leone. Additionally, he received several certificates in management, leadership, development and humanitarian sectors from Bocconi University, West African Course on Human Rights and Drug Policy from University of Ghana, CIVICUS World Alliance, Planetstartup Entrepreneurship Academy, West Africa Civil Society Institute, Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration. Augustine has over five years of successful track record in development and poverty reduction, with significant experience in child protection, peace building and sustainable development for young people.

Augustine currently serves as the Founder/Executive Director of Movement towards Education and Youth Empowerment-Sierra Leone (MEYE-SL), through this organization he has been able to lead many youth programmes that help promote peace, educational support, social justice and economic approaches towards youth empowerment and poverty reduction. He has helped to develop and advocate for programmes that foster an environment where future entrepreneurial and community leaders can thrive and create jobs and community projects that wage peace in their communities. The impact of his roles and interventions has helped in seeing a major shift in the dominant method of addressing contemporary issues dealing with youth unemployment, leadership, conflicts, and security issues amongst youth in Sierra Leone. 

As youth advocate, he has created more than credentials to be a great leader in recognizing the talents of his fellow youth combined with the humbling ability to acknowledge mistakes and accountability. Above all these attributes, he has worked for and collaborated with some of the finest and brightest youth leaders and organizations within Sierra Leone and around the world. He is a member of Young Africa Leaders Initiative, Royal Commonwealth Society, West African Course on Human Rights and Drug Policy, Yes 4 Humanity, International Youth Parliament, African Union (Youth 4 Peace). Augustine is passionate to support communities to capitalize on their own values and assets. He has been driven by his commitment to a self-reliant society with a good working environment and quality education for the less privileged.

Rashid Fodie Kanneh, Member

Rashid F. Kanneh, a Sierra Leonean is a Development practitioner with a Master in Sociology and a Bachelor Degree in Development Studies from Njala University Sierra Leone West Africa. Mr. Kanneh’s area of strength is Research, Monitoring & Evaluation and Community Development. He had extensive knowledge in working for Non- Governmental organizations. He is a founder of Sierra Leone National Volunteers (SiLNaV) which focuses on improving rural Agriculture, Education, Health and Environmental Protection. Mr. Kanneh is presently working for World Vision International as a Design Monitoring and Evaluation specialist.

Amos Bob Patricks, Member

Amos Bob Particks is a Sierra Leonean rural development practitioner and a lecturer with a Masters degree in Agricultural Extension and Rural sociology from Njala University. Mr. Patrick’s expertise is but not limited to project management, community development, research, and life skill facilitation amongst others. He has worked in some community development institutions in and out of Sierra Leone. He is currently a development consultant and the livelihood and food security program manager at Movement towards Peace Action and Development Agency – Sierra Leone (MOPADA-SL).

Emmanuel Tamba Nyaka, Member

Tamba Emmanuel Nyaka is a disciplined, soft spoken, smart, passionate and result driven leader with courageous personality. He is known by all as an orator whose words can resuscitate a wearing person. He holds a master’s degree in Environmental Management and Quality Control from Njala University, Sierra Leone, and a post graduate diploma in Environmental Management from the Technical University Dresden Germany. Over the years, Tamba has worked diligently on various projects and programs such as Ozone protection, climate change mitigation and adaptation, disaster risk mitigation, chemicals management, improving knowledge of communities on best environment practices and technologies etc. targeted at human development, public health and environment. He is currently the head of chemicals control and management and the national Ozone officer for Sierra Leone. Tamba is a happy family man with two kids.
